Joel Glazer comments on fan abuse of Gerald McCoy

Ira Kaufman had a chance to sit down with Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Joel Glazer during the owners meeting in Boca Raton, FL and asked Mr. Glazer why he thought Tampa fans were ridiculing star defensive player Gerald McCoy. Glazer had this to say:

“Here’s what I know – Gerald’s a tremendous player and a tremendous person in the community. Gerald is a tremendous teammate. When I talk to fans, the vast majority appreciate the effort and what he does on and off the field. As an organization, we’re lucky to have someone like Gerald. He gets recognized year-in and year out by his peers. I think there are 31 other teams that would love to have a Gerald McCoy. Whenever you’re not winning, people are going to look at everything. When you’re winning, food tastes better, everyone is happier. From our standpoint, we’re very proud what Gerald’s done.” – Joel Glazer

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Gerald McCoy has been a key figure on the Tampa Bay defense since the first day he put on our jersey. The 4x consecutive Pro Bowler deserves our love and respect. Not sneers and jeers.
