Derrick Thomas’ son tries out for the Chiefs

Donnell Alexander is the son of K.C. icon, Derrick Thomas and much like his father, will have a chance to carry on that legacy as a Kansas City Chief. Alexander plays the opposite side of the line than his father did, but all the same, he hopes to be an icon in Kansas City, as well.

Although Alexander was too young to remember his father playing, he had seen a lot of film and knows quite well who his father was when he was in action. The running back will have an extremely difficult task in making the Chiefs already stacked backfield, but Chiefs head coach Andy Reid seems to like the young man and likes what he saw during Alexander’s tryout. “I thought he did a real nice job and he’s actually got a tattoo right on the back of his head there — right on the back of his neck. It’s pretty neat, with an Arrowhead and the whole deal. How many guys have an Arrowhead tattoo at all?

Alexander was a high school football start in Kansas City and hopes to be a star NFL player there as well.
