Zach Mettenberger waived by Titans, but Keep Matt Cassel.

The Tennessee Titans have gotten rid of quarterback Zach Mettenberger. The move to release Mettenberger came shortly after signing backup QB Matt Cassel. The Titans at one point believed that Mettenberger had massive amounts of potential, but that fizzled out with a 0-10 record over the past couple of seasons.

MettenBerger is only 24 years old and has a big arm, with his 6 foot 5 224 lb frame, he is what many call a prototypical built QB. He proved to be inconsistent when starting for the injured Marcus Mariota, averaging only 5 and a half yards per attempt in those four starts.

Matt Cassel isn’t much better and the Titans better hope that Mariota does not fall to injury, in this upcoming season, or the Titans could be faced with starting a QB that performed so terribly with Dallas, that he was not asked to return.

Mettenberger is young and does have some talent, it just needs to be properly molded and that will be what other teams will look at. He should have a new job before the season begins.
