Ali Marpet: The rookie who played like a Vet.

His transition from college to the NFL last year may have looked easy, as he stepped right up into the starting role, and played like he’s been in the league for years. Recently, he told Joe Bucs Fan that he had a few games last year that were a little faster than anticipated, but he is hoping to slow all of them down this year.

I think he did a fantastic job, and with the addition of J.R. Sweezy, who will hopefully be healthy and ready to go by the start of the season, the already amazing run game, will get much more amazing.

The Buccaneers only gave up 27 sacks on the season, and that isn’t just an improvement for the line, it was also a blessing for the rookie QB Jameis Winston. I’m sure he’s glad he didn’t have to see the number of defenders breaking through the line that McCown and Glennon saw in 2014. Talk about disheartening. That 2015 sack total was 52.
