8771027.vadapt.664.high.28The Jets have signed Muhammad Wilkerson to a five-year $85 million contract extension. He will earn $17 million each year with $37 million of that guaranteed. There is no doubt that Wilkerson is a talented player but yesterday’s signing comes as a bit of surprise as not only was he signed in the final minutes before the deadline, the news about his situation had been relatively quiet since the last news came out that there was no probable deal in sight.

Wilkerson will help the Jets maintain one of the league’s best pass-rushing defensive lines. Wilkerson had 12 sacks, and 64 tackles last season and will be looking to continue that trend and earn himself another Pro Bowl in 2016.
