Brent Grimes came to Tampa under some scrutiny and the majority of that was not because of his playing, but for other reasons. However, the scrutiny faded and his playing continued. Grimes had one heck of a season with Tampa and that will likely continue on through the next year. Grimes only had one season left on his contract, unless Tampa offers up an extension.
Leading off on reasons for a Grime’s contract extension is the fact that he is the only player in the NFL to have, at a minimum, four INTs in each of the last four seasons. Grimes, who has been a familiar face at the NFL Pro Bowl in three of the last four seasons had been snubbed for a starting role in this year’s Pro Bowl but was still invited as an alternate.
