Bonding Together the Defense

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been in the news quite a bit lately for their free agent acquisitions. They signed defensive tackle Chris Baker and wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Although both players are worth the recognition Buccaneers fans can’t forget about the guys that led our defense last year. I am talking about the linebackers.

The linebacking core in Tampa Bay is one of the league’s best. The names on this list include Kwon Alexander, LaVonte David, and Devante Bond. Kwon Alexander and LaVonte David are the two most notable on this list. They have proven to be two of the league’s best at their positions, but Devante Bond doesn’t show up on many people’s radar.

Bond is a 6’1 – 236 lbs linebacker from Oklahoma. In two years at Oklahoma, Bond recorded 73 tackles and 3 sacks. 11 of his 73 tackles were for a loss of yards. He will look to be a difference maker in the future for the young Buccaneers linebacking crew. He gives us depth at a position that is injury prone throughout the NFL. Bond will be entering year two of his young career. He should see significant playing time this year for the Buccaneers defense. One thing’s for sure in Tampa the future is bright. Go Bucs!
