The Buccaneers signed kicker Nick Folk

On Friday while most were enjoying a tall pint of ice cold Guinness Stout, the Bucs Brass were still hard at work making sure they will have a consistent kicker for 2017. Earlier this offseason it was made clear that the Aguayo experiment could be coming to an end and that competition will be brought in at the position.

All hope hasn’t been abandoned for Roberto Aguayo, and although Kicker Johns Lunsford was brought in earlier this off-season, Folk being brought in tells a tale that the Buccaneers are not willing to hope Aguayo turns it around, but that he’d better or he will not be kicking for us next season.

Last season, Aguayo missed 9 of his 31 FG attempts and missed 2 of 24 extra points, all in all, that is not horrible, but for Tampa, it is not good enough. Folk last season missed 3 out of 31 FG attempts and missed 2 out of his 26 extra point tries, but it is obvious who was the most consistent kicker of the two.

Folk was entering the final year of his contract when he was released a month ago to free up $3 million in cap space and now will compete with Aguayo for starting kicker for the 2017 season. A competition in which the veteran kicker could easily win.
