The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have looked at many different potential draft players at many different positions, but they have shown the most interest in the running back position. Many running backs in this upcoming draft have expressed wanting to play for the Buccaneers and one recently came out saying that Tampa has shown the most interest in him and that RB is Samaje Perine.
One may find themselves asking, “Who in the heck that?”
Well, this is a guy who set the FBS single-game rushing record with 427 yards against Kansas in 2014 and he did it his freshman year at Oklahoma. Perine’s entire college career is statistically solid.IN his three seasons with the Sooners, he amassed 4,122 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns.
In his freshman year, Perine rushed for 1,713 yards on 263 attempts, and 21 touchdowns, however, his numbers would slowly decline over the next couple of seasons, due to sharing touches with Joe Mixon. He still carried an average of 17-20 times each of those seasons, and still reached the 1,000 plus yard mark each year.
Perine has shown he can be a solid back to help the Buccaneers while they are still trying to figure out Martin’s situation. He is not first round material but he could be a steal in the later rounds!
