Round 1 Analysis

Now that the most important part of the Draft is in the books, it is time to evaluate what our Buccaneers did with their most precious pick in the Draft.

Even though Dalvin Cook, arguably most Buccaneers fans’ favorite player in the draft, was still available at #19, Tampa Bay decided to go in a different direction and ended up picking O.J. Howard, TE out of Alabama. While Cook might have been a very sexy pick, a fan’s favorite, Howard is just too good to pass on this late in the first round!

Howard was clearly the best player available at the spot Tampa picked! He is a very athletic tight end with rare speed and great route-running skills! An absolute mismatch nightmare because linebackers won’t be able to cover him, Safeties will struggle to get him to the ground because of his size. Excellent run-blocker, as well! Will open lanes for the running game and provide a tremendous additional red zone target!

The future is bright, Bucs fans! Jason Licht just got Jameis Winston another brand new, shiny toy in O.J. Howard! This Tampa Bay offense now has all the tools it needs to be a dominant offensive powerhouse for years to come! It’s important to beef up our O-Line now, though!
