Chris Godwin – steal of the draft?

With the 84th pick in the 2017 Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Chris Godwin, WR, Penn State. The Bucs most likely were expecting to go a different direction with that pick, since Wide Receiver was not as much of a glaring need, but were ecstatic to see Godwin still on the board and pulled the trigger.

Being the focal point of a pro-style offense at Penn State, Godwin is ready and prepared to play at the next level. The 6’1” Receiver knows how to separate and makes contested grabs. His favorable measurements, along with his great athleticism, had him going early in the second round and even late in the first in some Mock Drafts. As of now, Godwin seems like a high-value pick at spot number 84, who was just too good to pass up on at that point and could easily end up being the steal of the draft!

While he might not contribute much in his rookie year, since Evans and Jackson obviously will get the majority of reps, Godwin will provide great depth and will be given his shots as a slot receiver. Look for Chris Godwin to play a major role for the Bucs in two or three years, at latest! This Tampa Bay offense is stacked with young talent!
