Brent Grimes – A Lot Left in the Tank at Age 33

0

Barring injuries, Brent Grimes will be a starting Cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this upcoming season. While he might not be at the same level as the elite Cornerbacks in the league, such as Sherman, Norman or Peterson, he is a very decent player at his position, who had one of his better seasons last year. According to NFL.com, Grimes had the most pass deflections in the entire league in 2016. He is clearly one of the best active players in the game that entered the league as an undrafted free agent.

Sure, Grimes is on the wrong side of 30. His performance last year, however, as well as his work ethic in the offseason (he looks shredded in OTAs!), only indicate that he will have another solid year. He has the right mindset. Furthermore, he can pass on his extensive experience to Vernon Hargreaves and function as a mentor for the young, hopeful Cornerback. The improved play from our D-Line and Safeties, which is expected, will also help Grimes become a Pro Bowl selection for the fifth time in his career. Not so shabby at all, for a guy who did not get drafted!
