Roberto Aguayo and Adam Humphries looked good on ‘Day One’ of Mini-Camp

The kicking competition between Robert Aguayo and Nick Folk certainly seems to be heating up!

Aguayo, the second round (59 overall) phenom had an up and down, well, mostly down rookie year going 22 out of 31, a mediocre 71% with a long of only 43 yards. During the off-season, the Buccaneers brought in 9-year veteran kicker Nick Folk.

Last season, coming off a quad injury, Folk went 27 out of 31, a fantastic 87% with a long of 54 yards. If there was any chance to light a fire in Robert, Tampa Bay needed to bring in someone that Aguayo would realize could very well replace him. Enter Folk.

The off-season has been an up and down affair for Robert, however, in today’s OTA’s, he went 5 for 5, including a 53 yard FG, while Nick went 4-5 and miss his 50+ yard attempt. If Aguayo can get his head back in the game, with his talent, there is no reason he can not only secure the starting spot this year but for much more to come.

Also during today’s OTA’s, Adam Humphries was slotted as the 3rd receiver. He will probably be competing with rookie draft pick Chris Godwin. Many of these questions and more will be answered very soon. Training camp and Hard Knocks are less than 2 months away if you aren’t getting excited yet, what are you waiting for?!?
