Although the Buccaneers improved their record last season, they did not improve their efficiency in the Red Zone. As a Matter of fact, Tampa’s Red Zone efficiency had actually declined since 2015.

Ending the 2015 season with RZ efficiency percentage of 52.1 percent, 2016 saw a decline in RZ percentage falling to 51.9. The Bucs 2016 RZ percentage fell way below the league average of 55.6% and this year with the additions of DeSean Jackson and O.J. Howard, Tampa hopes to bring that percentage up. Way up.

Head Coach Dirk Koetter stated that last season the entire league took a jump up in RZ percentage citing that it used to be that score in the RZ 55% of the time would put you up in the top five scoring offenses in the league. Last year theTennesseee Titans scored 72% if the time in the Red Zone.

Bucs HC set the RZ efficiency goal this year, to 60%  and hopes that Brate, Howard, Godwin, Humphries, and DeSean Jackson, will free up Mike Evans in the Red Zone more often this year, as last year he scored the majority of his touchdowns there.
