Bucs have not talked extension with Evans yet

Mike Evans, Jameis Winston’s top target, is entering his 4th year in the NFL and is due for a long term extension. His 5th-year option was picked up in the off season but there have been no talks taking place about a long term extension for him just yet. When asked back in January about the extension Evans didn’t see to be too worried. Now that we are so close to the start of the 2017 season, it has people wondering why no talks have taken place yet.

According to Scott Reynolds of Pewter report, “There may be a few reasons the talks have not taken place yet. Perhaps they wanted to wait until training camp started like they did with Demar Dotson last season. Or maybe they’re waiting to see what Odell Beckham Jr. hauls in to find a fair market value for Evans.”

Whatever the reason, there is no need to worry, coming off of his 3rd season with a career high in catches and receiving yards, as well as his first pro bowl selection, Evans has proven himself to be one of the leagues top young receivers. Not to mention the Winston/Evans connection is not something the Bucs will want to disrupt.
