First Team Offense and Defense looked GREAT against the Bengals!

So the Buccaneers played their first pre season game of the 2017-2018 season. Unfourtnely we did not prevail against the Cincinnati Bengals but the starters looked really good.

The Buccaneers received the kickoff and Ryan Smith returned it 17 yards but there was an illegal block in the back which brought it back to the Buccaneers 6th yard line. The Buccaneers marched down the field with some nice big passes from Jameis. There was really only one incompletion that was Jameis fault. The other two was dropped passes, one by Mike Evans and the other by Adam Humphries. The Buccaneers had to settle for a 20-yard field goal by Aguayo. On the first drive, Winston was 5-8 for 79 yards. Doug Martin looked good in his debut. He didn’t run much being it was the first game but in the opening series, Doug ran for 11 yards on 4 attempts.

On the first defensive drive, Cincinnati Bengals started the drive on their own 25-yard line. On the first play, Ryan Smith who started the game in place of injured Brent Grimes (laceration) ran Jeremy Hill out of bounds for only a one-yard game. On the second down, Kwon Alexander tackled AJ Green before he could get the first down. On third down Kwon made another amazing open field solo tackle after Hill rushed for the first down. Lavonte David made a tackle on the next play following a 9 yard run by Hill. Noah Spence ended up having a tackle for a 2-yard loss on first down. Then the next play no other than Kwon made another tackle for only a 4- yard gain. Kwon made another tackle 2 plays later after a rush by Hill for only 3 yards. The following play Vernon Hargreaves intercepts Dalton at the one-yard line!

The following drive the Bucs started at their own 1- yard line. Jackson catches a 10-yard catch for his first one as a Buccaneer. Jameis shows some scrambling ability and makes a first down throw on the run to Adam Humphries. Buccaneers ended up having to punt on their second drive.

Jameis Winston- 9-13 for 99 yards.
Doug Martin- 4 rushes for 11 yards
Mike Evans- 4 receptions for 58 yards
Cameron Brate- 2 receptions for 27 yards
Desean Jackson- 1 catch for 6 yards
Kwon Alexander- 5 tackles (4 solos)
Kendell Beckwith- 5 tackles ( 3 solos, 1 sack)
Devonte’ Bond- 5 tackles (2 solos)
Vernon Hargreaves- 1 interception
Nick Folk- 1-1 FGM for 45 yards
Roberto Aguayo- 1-2 FGA (20 yards/47 yards FG,) 0-1 EXP

There was for sure some ups and downs during this game, but that is what pre season is all about. You have to learn from your mistakes and see where you can get better. The offense started fast and marched down the field. Who knows what the final score would have been if Aguayo made those 2 kicks? It doesn’t matter though. It’s just pre season! NO NEED TO PANIC! The first team OFFENSE and DEFENSE did do well! GO BUCS
