The NFL and Roger Goodell are close to an agreement that would extend Goodell’s contract by five more years. The five-year contract extension would keep the league’s commissioner in place through the 2024 season, giving him a 19-year tenure.

During his tenure, he has been considered one of the most impactful commissioners in recent history, helping to make the NFL safer and brought many changes to how the game is officiated. He’s overseen changes to play reviews and how the game is watched by bringing in different viewing platforms. I.e. Internet streaming.
