Thrown To The Wolves.

Browns head coach Hue Jackson stated that rookie QB DeShone Kizer will start against Tampa on Saturday.

Brock Osweiler, who was to be the starter for the Browns, has only completed 54% of his passes for only 67 yards, had one interception and no TD’s. The Browns are actively seeking a trade for Osweiler.

Kizer on the other hand is impressive throwing for 258 passing yards, one passing TD, 47 rushing yards, and one rushing TD thus far in the preseason.

The second-round draft pick out of Notre Dame had played two seasons with the fighting Irish completing 422 out of 695 pass attempts for 5805 yards, 47 TD, and 19 INTs.

Despite Kizer looking so well in the preseason, I’d suspect he will have a tough time against the Buccaneers starting unit, who have not allowed a TD this preseason. He has only played against the Saints and Giants second and third string defenses. Last season for the Texans, Osweiler threw for almost 3,000 yards, 15 TDs, and 16 INTs. Despite being signed by the Texans to a four-year, $72 million contract he was traded to the Browns.

Osweiler has yet to show any signs of that spark he once showcased during the 2015 season with the Broncos. He has been in the league going on six seasons playing in 36 games, 21 of those starting, throwing for 5,083 yards, 22 TDs and 26 INTs.
