Chris Conte Fined For Hit On Josh Bellamy

Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Chris Conte caught a unnecessary roughness penalty last week in the win over the Bears, a penalty that not only cost the Buccaneers 15-yards, but also cost the veteran safety $24,309 in fines.

He was fined for helmet to helmet contact on Bears WR Josh Bellamy for leading helmet first in an attempt to help cornerback Brent Grimes bring down the big receiver.

The NFL listed his violation as impermissible use of the helmet. Conte said he will appeal the fine. He was previously fined for a similar incident against the Bills in 2014. Chris firmly believes playing safety is the toughest position in terms of hits, penalties and fines. They are lightning quick, and extremely proficient at getting the opposing players down. I guess you could say it comes with the territory.
