3 Buccaneers Rookies Quietly Having A Good Season – By Kyle Riddle

This year the Bucs have been no less than terrible. We have no run game, and our defensive play has been horrendous. Yet through all the chaos, three Rookie Buccaneers are quietly putting together a respectable rookie season.

First Round pick OJ Howard, started the season out slow, but has been on fire lately. He has 20 catches for 331 yards with 4 touchdowns. Howard is also averaging an impressive 16.6 yards per catch, with a 58 yard touchdown grab to add to his 2017 resume.

Rookie Safety, Justin Evans, has recently become a mainstay at FS. He ranks third on the team in tackles with 52, including 41 solo stops and is tied for first with 2 interceptions. He still must improve his pass coverage, but he is still extremely athletic when the ball is in the air. He also has the ability to play down in the box being as he hits like a Mack truck.

3rd round pick, Kendall Beckwith, has been the most surprising of this group. Some even expected him to miss the entire season, as he had torn his ACL in college, but the Bucs took a chance. He has not disappointed, putting up 52 tackles, making him second on the team in that category, including 46 solo stops. He also has 1 sack and a forced fumble, despite only playing only 50 percent of the snaps.

In a season that has not lived up to expectations, here are 3 reasons fans can be optimistic about next year.
