Martin and Ayers Return To Practice As Others Are Held Out – Jay Bucs

0

Buccaneers running back Doug Martin and Robert Ayers both return to practice today since sustaining concussions. (Ayers vs Dolphins – Martin vs Falcons) Returning to practice means they are nearing the end of the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Peyton Barber played well in Martin’s absence, so whether or not Martin is able to play this week against the Lions, I’d still expect to see Barber get a large chunk of the play calls.

Robert Ayers return is much needed to help a defense that has been on it’s heals. Although Ayers is not looked at as being much of a help this year, he still brings a fire to the defense as he has quietly recorded two sacks, one forced fumble, and 28 tackles. This fire will be desperately needed with DE Ryan Russell and DT Clinton McDonald being held out of practice and possibly missing another game.

Three players were held out of practice today: T.J. Ward, Vernon Hargreaves, and Joe Hawley.
