Koetters Future With Tampa Bay Looking Bleak – By Kyle Riddle

Things aren’t looking too good for Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter. At 4-9 how could you look good? There are no excuses. However, after a 9-7 record last year, things were looking up for the Bucs. Fans actually had a reason to be enthusiastic again.

Koetter was given all the talent on the offensive side of the ball you could ever want. They paid big money for DeSean Jackson, drafted O.J. Howard in the first round, and drafted WR Cris Godwin in the 3rd round. DeSean Jackson is extremely talented, but it seems Koetter hasn’t ever figured out how to properly use him. So Much for the “Deep Threat”. Godwin is showing that he is going to be an integral part of the Bucs future. As an example of this, during the loss to the Lions, he snagged 5 passes for 68 yards leading Bucs receivers.

OJ Howard came in second last week with 5 receptions for 54 yards. Howard has shown many flashes and is also going to be an integral part of the Buccaneers future offense. Whether or not Koetter will be a part of the Bucs in the future, it’s safe to say that the Bucs have not been able to finish on big drives.

All the talent in the world and Koetter has yet to be able to make it work despite all of the yards the offense has put up. His play calling is terrible which seems strange as Falcons QB Matt Ryan thrived under Koetter as OC. His coaching isn’t elite. It’s like a broken record playing the same song over and over. I would not be surprised if he is gone at the end of the season, and although, I do agree that we cannot keep changing coaches every two years, I must say, “Do we really want another season like this one?”
