Week 16 @ Carolina Panthers Game Analysis – by Hagen

Another close loss for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Another game that they should have won. Tampa Bay’s defense kept Cam Newton in check impressively. Newton got very lucky in the decisive play of the game, as he was able to recover his own fumble right after the snap and take it in for the game-winning touchdown with less than 40 seconds left on the clock. Nonetheless, a solid performance by Tampa’s defense against one of the better teams in football at the moment.

Jameis Winston had another solid outing, as well. However, his performance was overshadowed by three lost fumbles, which he is not solely to blame for since our offensive line was not able to provide Winston much time in the pocket. Winston was sacked six times, but made great decisions and threw his first Touchdown pass to his former Florida State teammate Bobo Wilson. Jameis’ outburst at the end of the game when he lost the fumble and claimed he recovered it showed how much he wanted the W and how much he cares about the game and this team. Nothing to criticize about this kind of motivation and determination to succeed.

A win would have been nice, but the loss does not really matter at this point, as it improved our draft status. We are currently looking at a top-five pick, which would enable us to pick up a highly talented prospect next April. But first we have to get this very forgettable season over with against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
