Dont Forget About Justin Evans

During this recent NFL draft, Buccaneer fans were screaming for Florida State Safety Derwin James. The feeling was understandable, considering how horrific the Bucs defense was last year. Yet, it seems to me, the fans forgot about FS Justin Evans overnight.

Evans, the FS out of Texas A&M, had an excellent year last year. It was the kind of year that you look back on and think to yourself that Evans could be a formidable player in the NFL.

Playing in 14 games, but starting only 9, Evans put up great statistics for a rookie FS. He showed incredible athleticism, snagging 3 Int and managing 6 pass defends. Evans also showed he’s not afraid to come up in the box and stuff the run evidenced by his 66 tackles.

So basically, the Bucs did not need Derwin James. The Bucs already have a starting FS in Evans that is extremely athletic, but can also hit like a MACK truck.
