Happy Little Accidents.

In March of this year, the then Twinsburg High School Senior, Justin Deeds, received a reminder text message from a Buccaneers assistant Coach about a scheduled meeting. Part of the text read, “Bucs reminder we have a scheduled meeting after your Pro Day on Thursday.” The text was meant for Ohio State cornerback, Denzel Ward.

Realizing it was a wrong number text, he responded by texting, “I’d be glad to do so I’d love to be a part of the Bucs organization even though I’m a high school senior”

After apologizing for the mistake, the Coach offered to send the football fan a gift as a thank you for his honesty to which Deeds responded, “As a longtime football fan is there any chance that I can get a signed Mike Evans jersey for helping out.” Even though he knew it may be a long shot. Surprisingly, the Coach agreed and let him know he would get it to him once the players returned. “I actually jumped off my couch and started running around the house because I was so excited he said he would send it.” Said Deeds.

Last week, Deeds received his gift, and posted a photo of him and the bright #13 signed jersey, with the caption, “Best accidental text ever. Thank you.”

When talking to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times about why he made the request, he stated, “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take, If I didn’t ask, I wasn’t getting it, so it didn’t hurt to ask.”
