OJ Howard: “I am Expecting Nothing but the Best!”

Our very own OJ Howard recently appeared on WSFA and was interviewed by Maria Martin about his expectations for the upcoming season. The 6’6” Tight End out of Alabama was drafted by Tampa Bay, last year, and had a very decent Rookie campaign, making 26 catches for a total of 432 yards and adding 6 Touchdowns, as well. He produced these numbers in only 14 games, as he missed two contests due to injury. Expectations for Howard are lofty in 2018, as Tight Ends usually make a major leap in production in their second year. When asked about his personal expectations for the upcoming season, Howard responded confidently:

“I am expecting nothing but the best. In my mindset, I think I should have a Pro Bowl type of year. That is the kind of competitor I am. I want to be one of the best Tight Ends in the NFL… As a year 2 player, I know I should get a head start on the games by studying a lot more”

Furthermore, Howard added that he learned as a Rookie how important preparation is in the NFL. That is why he plans on studying a lot more in his second year.

OJ Howard’s mindset is definitely what it is supposed to be. Tight Ends often struggle in their first year in the NFL, since it is such a difficult position to learn. Yet, with his strong performance in 2017, the Alabama product is right on track for major improvement in his second year.
