Well, now that Jameis Winston is to be suspended for the first 3 games, there has been a lot of talk about Ryan Fitzpatrick.
What about Ryan Griffin? Is nobody willing to give him a chance?
As last season began, Griffin seemed to be leading the hunt for the job of backup QB. Then, in the first preseason game he went down with a shoulder injury.
So what do we know about Griffin?
Griffin took over the starter’s job at Tulane as a redshirt freshman in 2009.
At 6’4″ 216 pounds, he has enough arm strength to make all the throws. He also shows great anticipation and accuracy as he shouldered most of the offensive load at Tulane. In all, he finished with 39 starts and completed 836 out of 1,396 passes, for 9,206 yards with 56 TDs and 35 INTs.
Nobody knows this Bucs Offense better than Griffin, as he has held a clipboard since signing with the Bucs in 2015. So why not give the former Green Wave QB a chance before you name Fitzpatrick your starter.
