This week training camp opened and without much surprise, Ali Marpet will be playing another new position in his fourth year with the Buccaneers. For Ali, the position is not completely new, however, as he was drafted as a right guard out of Hobart College.

When speaking to the media after training camp, Ali spoke enthusiastically of the new challenge as he will begin the upcoming season as the starting left guard.  This will be his third position in four years after replacing Joe Hawley at center.

When answering questions, you can see the honesty and passion this young man possesses, and as a longtime fan, you love to see the drive he has. You can see it in his answers. He stated that he loved the challenge of trying a new position and that he’s excited to play alongside Caleb Benenoch and Donovan Smith. He spoke about the importance of his lineman growing as a group, spending time together off the field, the struggles they dealt with last year, and while he acknowledged the problems were there, he made it clear they plan on finding a remedy for that issue and getting the run game back and going again.
