Battle For Safety

Training camp has been explosive so far in the early stages of the 2018 season and there is a ton of intense position battles throughout the team. But, the one position that intrigues me the most are both the safety positions.

It seems one safety spot is set in stone with Conte taking the Strong Safety spot, Even if half the fan base thinks Chris is the toxic crusade of the secondary.

But what about the other side?

What about the Free safety?

Mainly a battle between long tenure Buc Keith Tandy, who had a stellar last half of the 2016 season, and second year player Justin Evans, who really seemed to take the spot in stride last year capturing his first career interception in his first career start against none other than Tom Brady.

If you ask me, this shouldn’t even be a debate. Justin Evans should be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers free safety to start the 2018 regular season.

Evans came in last year and gave it his all and showed glimpses of becoming an elite safety in this league, which is something Tampa hasn’t had since John Lynch.

Needless to say, he was one of the only bright spots of the lackluster monster we called a defense in 2017.
