Tony’s Take On The Bucs Offensive Line

We have heard good things about the defense early this training camp, but it is at the expense of potentially exposing some gaps on offense. Particularly the offensive line. It has been well noted of the noticeable upgrade on the defensive line with the additions of players like Pierre-Paul, Curry, and rookie Vea. Even though it is good to see the arrow pointing up on the defensive line it makes the opposing line look suspect.

The two most concerning areas, in my opinion, is two main injuries in Caleb Benenoch / Leonard Wester, and Donovan Smith, who could be a liability this season at left tackle. When you also consider Demar Dotson returning from an injury last season, the coaching staff I’m sure is prepared to wrap him in bubble wrap if necessary. As they cannot afford a season ending injury from Dotson. If, in fact, injuries pile up on the line and healthy starters like Donovan aren’t performing well, it is fair to think if it will affect aspects like our running game as if did in 2017.

My take on the Bucs 2018 offensive line, is that this is a unit to watch out for down the stretch, and its biggest threat being injuries. Despite that there are some good pieces in Ali Marpet, Evan Smith, Ryan Jensen, and good potential in rookie Alex Cappa. These players could be the difference in making or breaking the Bucs offense.
