The Buccaneers defense has been a hot button issue for quite awhile now, and after all of the changes in the off-season, in an effort to remedy the issues; Bucs fans were hoping to see some big changes at the start of the 2018 season. And while the first game against the Saints still left some to be desired, we did see improvement with their pass rush during Sunday’s game against the Eagles.

They racked up three sacks on Eagles QB, Nick Foles, one of which resulted in the Bucs first takeaway of the game, after a sack by Kwon Alexander stripped the ball out of Foles’ hands and was picked up by rookie, Carlton Davis. Also, notably, Gerold McCoy had a sack on Nick Foles in the third quarter for a loss of nine yards. All day long the defense was at minumum putting pressure on Foles throughout the game.

They were also able to effectively shut down the run game and force Foles into 48 passing attempts, and broke up six passes; according to Buccaneers.com.

It is looking like the new changes to the Bucs defense is starting to pay off. Granted, our defense still needs work, however, they showed up when it counted against the reigning Super Bowl Champions and their Super Bowl MVP quarterback. The reward? 2-0 atop of the NFC South.
