Fitzmagic? Monkenstyle? Either Way, It’sFun!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are building this week towards their Monday Night Football showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been taking the NFL by storm in these first 2 weeks, throwing 8 touchdowns, and 2 separate 400+ yard days.

Does this mean this is Fitzmagic? Or is it Monkenstyle? Not only a clever hashtag, but a legitimate question. In the pre-season, Coach Dirk Koetter handed the reigns of the offensive play calling to Monken. Since that time, Tampa Bay has had incredible offensive production. Fitzpatrick, filling in for Jameis Winston while suspensed, has made accurate, deep, and smart passes with the ball in his hands. This does beg the question, is Fitzpatrick really this good? Or is the offense built around his skill set?

I have said it numerous times in articles, as well as on Bucs Report Live! shows. Fitzpatrick may be a 14 year vet, but I’d take his arm accuracy over Winston’s. Monken has been doing a great job, and I don’t see that stopping. The Buccaneers are on a role, and whether it’s the play caller or the veteran, this is a fun offense to watch. It would be interesting to see Jameis come back and be the ball handler under Monken’s offense, but as long as Fitzpatrick is playing this well, you stick with him! Tampa Bay is 2-0 and in first place in the NFC South…. Anyone else have to read that twice?
