Winston On Board With Success

One of the oldest held beliefs in sports is that you don’t fix what isn’t broke. Right now, the Buccaneers aren’t broke! As reported by NFLs Ian Rapoport Jameis is ok if he doesn’t start as soon as his suspension is done, that’s the smart thing to say. With that statement Winston is showing that he’s not just the face of the franchise but is putting the success of the team first. No doubt that his return could be problematic with the recent braking news that the QB has been named in a civil suit by the Uber driver he allegedly groped leading to the three game suspension.

Without any additional factors at this point it would be foolish to make the swap as the Bucs are the leagues number one offense behind Fitzpatrick, twice named NFC player of the week. Head Coach Dirk Koetter has been silent so far on the subject and many fans are seeing that silence as a hint to it being increasingly likely that Koetter will stick with the hot hand. After all the decision is being made for him on the field by the players, Dirk has the grace of keeping Winston on the bench and if things start to go sideways for Fitzpatrick then he will be ready to insert the number one pick into the game. The team doesn’t need to be changed and by doing so could not only disrupt the chemistry between QB and receivers but if Tampa loses then Koetter is open to plenty of questions and criticisms.

Fitzpatrick has a history of flashing and returning to the player who has moved around the league, until that happens it makes sense to ride the Fitzmagic train until it stops. Hopefully Jameis is ready and waiting to lead the team and recreate his lights out performances from preseason.
