Rookie DT Vita Vea will be out for Monday night’s football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was back in practice, but on a limited basis last week after a calf injury in a July practice sidelined the first round draft pick for seven weeks. Last week’s practices led some fans to think he may finally get to make his NFL debut.
Sadly, that will not be the case, and we will just have to wait and see when we can expect him on the active game day roster.
It was originally thought that Vea’s injury was minor and that he would not miss any regular season games, but that hasn’t been the case. And although Vea has been working hard to recover, it’s a smart move for them to hold off a little longer on putting him in the game; there’s really no need to risk a long-term injury by rushing him back onto the field.
