Can The Bucs Turn Things Around After The Bye?

It has been a tale of two seasons for Bucs fans this year. The Bucs started out 2-0 with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick giving electrifying performances. After those first 2 games the Bucs tanked and now find themselves at 2-2.

The offensive line has been shaky with the inconsistent play of LT Donovan Smith. Another major issue is that after 4 games the Bucs have yet to establish the run. Peyton Barber is obviously not getting the job done with just 3.0 yards. The team has activated 2nd round pick RB Ronald Jones, hoping the speedy home run threat can jump start the run game.

On defense the Bucs DBs have been toyed with all year, giving up chunks of passing yards at a time. Mike Smith’s defense is taking press coverage CB’s and has them playing zone defense, giving receivers up to a 7-yard cushion at times. Smith is trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

So the Bucs fans can expect more of the same. If the team can’t find someone who can tote the rock and Mike Smith doesn’t makes adjustments to his defense, the Bucs will end up no better than the .500 this season.
