A Weak Link In The Chain: Caleb Benenoch

The offensive line of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has had their share of ups and downs this season, but for the most part, played well.

This week they face a strong defensive front from the Cleveland Browns and will see many different blitz packages and many of them disguised.

Many can say that Demar Dotson and Donovan Smith will have issues blocking the blitzes that the Browns will throw at them, but in my opinion, if Caleb Benenoch sees a large number of snaps this Sunday, he will be the one who struggles the most.

Right guard Caleb Benenoch has not had the best season, so far this year. Pointing back to last week, Benencoch blew blocks, allowing for plays to be destroyed and as a matter of fact, when he was removed from the line things went smoothly for the Buccaneer’s offense.

Benenoch has always been a weak point on the line for me, and will struggle mightily against the Cleveland Browns. Browns DT Larry Ogunjobi, for example, has exploited guards many a time and if there is one on our team, he will make look stupid, it will be Caleb Benenoch.

The Browns have a total of 15 sacks as a defense and that’s good for 16th in the league. If Caleb Benenoch is in for a majority of the snaps and does not play well, then I would watch for the Browns to throw many blitzes on that right side, allowing for exploitation of Benenoch’s poor play.
