The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released veteran cornerback Marcus Williams from the injury reserve with a settlement.

The Buccaneers signed Marcus Williams at the beginning of the season in the hopes that he would fill in for Brent Grimes, who was not quite ready to go at the time. Williams played in two games for the Bucs, recording only 3 tackles.

Marcus Williams was originally signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2014 but was waived a few weeks into that year’s regular season. He was quickly snatched up by the New York Jets, where he played for 4 seasons, recording 82 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 9 interceptions, and 23 passes defended.
