This season, with the Buccaneers defense playing more appallingly than they ever have historically, people are beginning to point fingers. Some fans look to the DBs, while others blame the ineffective D-Line. Lately, I’ve even heard talk that it’s the LBs.
Make no mistake. Kwon Alexander, Lavonte David, and Kendall Beckwith are the best trio in the NFL, period. Injuries to Alexander and Beckwith have devastated the LB position this year. When healthy, they are the heart and soul of this defense. With Kwon Alexander as his leader and Beckwith his fellow dog of war, David is undoubtedly the best WLB in the game. His tackling and agility remind some of Bay Area living legend Derrick Brooks. With David providing the speed, Beckwith brings the thump, the ability to stuff a RB for no gain.
Hopefully with a healthy LB core, next season might end differently.
