After waiving Chandler Catanzaro, the Buccaneers sign place kicker Cario Santos to a one-year, $790,000 deal. Santos will earn $325,294 for the remainder of the season. According to multiple sources, the Buccaneers already had Santos on standby and ready to go prior to Catanzaro’s release.

Cairo Santos was signed by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2014 where he stayed on for four seasons. He was placed on IR in 2017 and then waived with an injury settlement. The Bears picked him up only to have to place him on IR after two games. The New York Jets signed Santos during this year’s offseason but released him in the preseason. He then found his way to the LA Rams in October but was released a couple of weeks later. He made 5 of 6 FG attempts and 5 of 6 extra point attempts, playing in 2 games this year.

During Santos’ six seasons in the NFL, he has made 95 of 113 FG attempts, which is good for 84.1%, and 132 of 138 extra point tries, good for 95.7%. The veteran kicker is from Tulane University.
