Hagen’s Week 11 Recap – Bucs @ Giants

The Buccaneers lost their seventh game of the season last Sunday against the New York Giants with a final score of 38-35.

Eli Manning played an almost perfect game against the Bucs, completing 17 of his 18 pass attempts and scoring two touchdowns. Saquon Barkley simply shredded Tampa’s injury-plagued defense for 152 all-purpose yards and a total of three touchdowns.

Fitzpatrick had, once again, a very forgettable afternoon. This time, however, he was taken out of the game early in the third quarter after getting intercepted a third time, which ended up being a pick-six.

Fitzpatrick’s struggles gave Winston another chance to prove himself. He played very well and led Tampa Bay to a touchdown on each of his first drives. He got lucky on the first score, though, as he did not protect the ball well on a running play and had it knocked out of his hands and into the end zone. Fortunately, it was recovered by Mike Evans for a touchdown.

After he got back on the field, he made two more questionable passes, which could have easily gotten picked off, but luck was on his side this time, and they fell incomplete. Winston played very well for the rest of the game, completing 12 of 15 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns. He did throw an interception on the very last offensive play with less than 30 seconds left and the Bucs starting the drive on their own 25-yard line.

Peyton Barber had an outstanding game this time, rushing for over 100 yards for the first time this year.

Up next is a home game against the San Francisco 49ers. Jameis Winston will again be the starting quarterback in that game.
