Should the Bucs Look at Recently Waived Kelvin Benjamin?

I know the Buccaneers have plenty of receivers, but would one more hurt? Especially one that had worked closely with Jameis Winston during his final year at Florida State and handed in a 1,011-yard season with 15 TDs.

In a surprising move, the Buffalo Bills waived WR Kelvin Benjamin one year after trading the Carolina Panthers for him. There was no question that the Benjamin would not be back with the Bills in 2019 as he was a trade candidate this year. But the move was surprising none the less.

The Buffalo Bills traded a 2018 third- and a seventh-round pick to Carolina in exchange for wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. After a disappointing Bills’ season, the team opted to waive Benjamin. Benjamin hadn’t had the best of seasons this year, playing in 12 games starting only 10, recording 354 yards on 23 receptions for 1 TD. He was targeted 62 times.

Benjamin tore his ACL in 2015 which resulted in him missing the entire season.

His career had been on a steady decline, since the injury, but that’s not to say that the 6’5 245lb receiver doesn’t have some gas left in the tank and a lot to still offer. He will be playing on a team somewhere.
