Report: Bucs Could Have Interest In Georgia Coach Kirby Smart

Without question former head coach Bruce Arians remains firmly as the head coach of choice for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that said the organization is leaving no stone left unturned.

A report from CBS Sport’s Jason La Canfora states that the Bucs could speak with current Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. Who has 32-10 in three years with the Bulldogs and an appearance in the College National Championship game last year. Under Smart’s leadership he has seemingly taken a collegiate program from the fringe of success to a top 5 college football team.

La Canfora writes,

“The allure of Saban and his accomplished assistants is significant at a time when many candidates for jobs lack the proven ability to assemble a staff and manage a game and personalities the way he has. In particular, sources said that Tampa Bay’s ownership – still hopeful of making a splash – would be interested in speaking to Georgia coach Kirby Smart, a former Saban assistant.”

Now keep in mind, there has been no official word that the Bucs are in fact pursuing Smart or that they have even talked, but he could emerge as a candidate if Arians isn’t hired.
