Player Profile: Tytus Howard (OT Alabama State)

0

Height  6’6″ / Weight 308lbs

Overview:

It has been projected by Walter Football that this under the radar talent could go between rounds 3-5. After the Senior Bowl this year he may move up on some of this years draft boards, and that because of plays like this in the video tweet below via Dane Brugler of the Athletic.

Here he is presenting a raw strength as he is tossing around a would-be pass rusher at will. Walter Football drew some comparisons to another hidden gem in NC A&T OT Brandon Parker. Last year he impressed NFL scouts, was drafted in the third round by the Raiders, and became a starter. The belief by them is that Howard could take a very similar route if he follows in Parkers footsteps. Without a doubt this is a OT the Bucs could nab for a bargain if the chips fall right.

Pro’s:

He obviously has good strength, size, and feet to play tackle at the pro level. Just like in the video above, even if the pass rusher tries to get a good edge to get off a pass block Howard does not relent. That motor and feet to reset his block and throw a pass rusher off-balance is what you need display when trying to keep the pocket clean. If he continues to impress leading up to the draft, look for his draft stock to go up.

Con’s:

He comes from a small Division I school, and because of that has some hidden talents/concerns that are yet to be discovered at the pro level. The level of competition of Alabama State is nowhere near what other in-state school like Alabama and Auburn face every year. Which leaves the question if he can compete at a high level in the pro’s without that experience in college. Because of that, there will be a certain risk/reward with Howard if he is drafted in an earlier rounds.
