Player Profile: Jawaan Taylor (Offensive Tackle, Florida)

Offensive Tackle, Junior

6’5” / 334 lbs

Overview: Jawaan Taylor is expected to make an immediate impact for the team he gets drafted by, and is considered one of the best offensive linemen in this year’s draft class. He is expected by some to be drafted in the top 10 of the 2019 draft and seems to have all the tools to become a Pro Bowler. He could possibly move to guard at the next level. If he has a great combine, he could end up being picked in the top five. If the Buccaneers plan on targeting him, they should do so in the middle of the first round. He could be a bargain if still available at that point in the draft, and the Bucs would acquire much-needed additional picks by trading down.

Pros: Great balance in pass protection. Excellent size and frame combined with long arms, which he knows how to use well. Also, he is a very efficient run blocker with an aggressive, nasty demeanor. Great at reading defenses quickly and anticipating potential blitzes.

Cons: Lacks NFL discipline, as he gets called for a lot of false starts. Not very explosive, has a tendency to struggle against highly athletic defensive ends.
