Player Profile: Amani Oruwariye (Cornerback, Penn State)

0

Penn State, RS Senior

6’1”, 204 lbs.

Overview: Amani Oruwariye will be selected in the middle or at the end of the second round according to most NFL mock drafts. The Tampa native seems to have everything it takes in order to quickly establish himself as a starter at the cornerback position in the NFL. If Tampa Bay plans on acquiring him—depending on whether a defensive back has already been picked or not, of course—targeting him early in the third round would be the right thing to do, as he seems to be a steal at that point in the draft.

Pros: Great frame for his position. High football IQ. Excellent instincts. Plays especially well in zone coverage. Outstanding at reading the quarterback well and anticipating his passes correctly. Knows how to position himself in order to make a play to the ball. Press coverage is a plus, as well. Impressive wing span. Decent in run support.

Cons: Lacks experience as a starter. Needs to work on his quickness. Tackling is somewhat of a concern. Can take his game to another level if he learns how to tackle efficiently.
