Greg Schiano to be hired as Patriots DC

It is being reported by the Boston Globe’s Jim McBride that the New England Patriots will hire former Bucs Head Coach Greg Schiano as their new defensive coordinator. This move comes on the heels of then Pats DC Brian Flores being promoted to HC of the Miami Dolphins earlier this week.

After failed two-year stint in Tampa Bay, Schiano has recently spent the past three seasons as Ohio State’s DC under HC Urban Meyer. It has been no secret that Schiano has wanted another crack at the pro-level, and was reportedly at this years Senior Bowl exploring NFL coaching opportunities. This opportunity couldn’t of been a better fit serving under Bill Belichick that has ties to Schiano, and both have similar strict approaches to the game.

That said if Schiano can’t make the most of  this ideal opportunity, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to think that his NFL coaching days could be numbered. For now though, he has a chance to prove in the league circles that he can make it at the pro level.
