Report: Lavonte David Isn’t Going Anywhere

According to a report by ESPN’s Jenna Laine, linebacker Lavonte David is not going anywhere. That is despite rumors that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be making a big move involving David.

In 2019 David is due to make $9.75M, and theoretically could be released or traded without a cap hit. That doesn’t seem likely to happen especially given to the pending bad news on the Kendell Beckwith injury and the chance Tampa Bay could lose MIKE LB Kwon Alexander.

Across seven seasons, David has collected 884 combined tackles, 38 PD, 18 FF, 13 FR, and 21.5 sacks. Since his arrival in 2012, he has been a staple on defense and has been one of the lone bright spots on some very bad defenses.

With the uncertainty within the linebacker group, in no way can the Bucs afford to lose David. The good news is the Tampa Bay can rest easy now knowing that Lavonte David is staying put.
