The “Honey Badger” as he is nicknamed, did have a solid year with Houston. The team seemed to have every intention to sign him to an extension. The Chiefs though seem bound to swipe Mathieu away at a tune of $12 million per season.
UPDATE:
The #Chiefs are signing former #Texans S Tyrann Mathieu to a 3-year deal worth $42M, source said. This was their top target in free agency, prying him from the #Texans.

Mathieu’s 3-year $42 million deal will give him 14 million per year on average. This is certainly a demand that the Texans couldn’t beat. Nor the Buccaneers for that matter who were speculated to have a connection to this off-season with the hire of Head Coach Bruce Arians.
Stay tuned as more details become available.
