Rookie DBs Worried About Wrong NFC South WR

With all of the noise coming out of One Buc Place regarding the newly drafted DBs, it’s easy to forget exactly why they were brought in in the first place. It’s simple to say it was because the secondary for Bucs last year was overwhelmingly disappointing.  That is true, but people need to remember what division the Buccaneers play in. The NFC South is consistently one of the best divisions in football.

Any rookie DB coming to Tampa Bay realizes the seriousness of having to face two top-5 WRs a total of four times a year in Julio Jones and Michael Thomas. Hell, even overused rookie RB Christian McCaffrey will be a challenge after a 107 reception season last year in Carolina.

When approached by his young DB’s regarding the talent they’ll be facing this year, the savvy old coach brought them back to Earth with some facts and reminded them of a special someone on their own team:

Great job, Arians. I like to think of Mike Evans as a Top-5 receiver in his own right and Coach Arians has made sure his rookie DBs haven’t forgotten about that.

Now, Evans has missed a good bit of minicamp with a nagging hamstring injury, but it looks to be more precautionary at this point. Once training camp rolls around and the pads come on, these rookies will get their first taste of a 5 straight 1,000 yard receiver in full action. His name is Mike Evans. Best of luck.
