West coast woes

The west coast has not been kind to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The teams record on the left coast is an abysmal 8-28. When playing in the pacific time zone this team has yet to figure out how the west is won.

The twilight zone

Everybody has had the thought that living out west would be awesome for sports fans. Get home at 5:30pm on a Monday night? Football kicks off in 30 minutes. Wake up a little early on a Sunday? The first NFL games kickoff at 10:00am pacific time. Life on the left coast sounds like a good deal.

There is a direct correlation between teams traveling across the country and being affected by time zones. No matter the direction. There are a million components to a road victory. The time zone is just one of them.

For the record

When you look at the Buccaneers road record against the five west coast teams; Seahawks, 49ers, Raiders, Chargers and Rams, there may be little room for optimism.

In Seattle the team is 2-4. In San Francisco they are 3-12. Whether the Raiders are in Oakland or Los Angeles the Buccaneers are 1-5. Tampa Bay is 2-3 at San Diego. With Tampa Bay playing in Los Angeles today they will try to improve on a record of 0-4.

The one that matters

To rewrite history and start to turnaround the 0-4 road record against the Rams, the Buccaneers must start today. From originally in Cleveland, to Los Angeles, to St. Louis and back to LA, the Rams have moved around a little. The Rams are in Los Angeles for the foreseeable future. If Tampa Bay wins the next four road games against the Rams they get back to 500. That starts now.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with but one step. For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that step must start with a victory in Los Angeles today.
